Ukrainian chocolate exports decreased in 2016

The creation of chocolate products in Ukraine last year fell by 6% - to 170.4 thousand tons. According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, in 2015, 181.7 thousand tons of chocolate bars, tiles and sweets were made. Due to the loss of the Russian market as the main purchaser of chocolate products from Ukrainian producers, in 2016 the size of chocolate exports plummeted.

In addition, the loss of the Russian market had a negative effect on the promotion of products to the Central Asian states of the former Soviet Union, as the transit through the Russian Federation was blocked. Thus, according to the State Statistics Committee, for 11 months of 2016, Ukrainian manufacturers have shipped 50.7 thousand tons of chocolate products, which is 13.9% less than a year earlier. In 2015, exports amounted to 58.9 thousand tons of products in the amount of 139.8 million dollars.

If you look at the geography of supplies, then the main consumer of Ukrainian delicacies last year was Kazakhstan, to which 17.5% of all deliveries made in currency terms fell.
