Bananas now grow in Turkmenistan too

Bananas have begun to grow now in Turkmenistan. These plants successfully settled down in the Sakarchaginsky district, which is located in the Mary region of Turkmenistan, and even began to bear fruit. A year ago, the firm "Ferhar" bought seedlings in Turkey and planted on its territory, the size of 1 hectare, in the greenhouse.

Naturally, this innovation very much surprised the local residents and became remarkable for the whole country, as earlier in Turkmenistan no one grew bananas. These exotic plants grow in tropical countries, where they make up a large share of exports. They are used not only in food, but also in the production of fibers for tissue, traditional medicine and cosmetology, as food for animals. In our area, it is also a very popular product.

From the whole area, farmers want to collect 40 tons of these fruits. Interestingly, 400-700 fruits are usually harvested from a single tree. This is a very fruitful type of culture, so the plans of the farmers can be justified.

The business of growing these exotic fruits has already become profitable in many countries: India, Ecuador, Mexico and other places where they grow in the open field. In Russia, for example, and in other countries with a similar climate, bananas so far can only grow in greenhouses.
