Onion prices in Russia continue to decline

On the Russian market continues to become cheaper onions. Due to weak demand, farmers have been actively revising the prices of their goods since the beginning of this week. The tendency to decline in prices was observed even last week, and now it has reached a maximum, according to EastFruit experts.

The decline in customer activity concerns not only low quality onions, but also high-quality product. The deterioration of onion sales in the Russian market is observed against the background of increasing imports. Large quantities of vegetables come from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

The cost of imported onion today is in the range of 16-18 rubles / kg ($ 0.25-0.28 / kg). Onion importers are also not happy with the low buying activity of Russians. Experts are of the opinion that lowering prices for onions provokes large volumes of low-quality products to enter the market.

With the warming of such onions in the sale has become much more. Now farmers are harvesting onions in vegetable stores, receiving a lot of substandard product. They are ready to sell such a vegetable even at 12-16 rubles / kg ($ 0.19-0.25 / kg). This leads to the fact that the cost of high-quality onion has already dropped to 17-26 rubles / kg ($ 0.27-0.41 / kg), which is 6% less than it was at the end of last week.
