A new list of products that are prohibited for importation into the Russian Federation was announced.

The Federal Customs Service of Russia expanded the list of food products that are prohibited from being imported into the territory of the Russian Federation. This will help in the future to avoid the importation of products that fall under the pro-bargo, which is produced by fraud.

A letter was sent to the Ministry of Agriculture with the proposed updated list of prohibited imported products.

  • The main argument for expanding the list of prohibited goods for import, which was used by the Federal Customs Service, was the fixation of frauds with already authorized imports. The Office notes that the most frequent cases of the illegal import of food are frauds with the documents of the exporting country and changes in labels and packaging. The real origin of the product is hidden, and it appears on the Russian market in a different package and with a deliberately wrong product code.

From this it follows that minimizing the use of such schemes is possible under the conditions of expanding the list of authorized products. This will allow more closely monitor the fraud, according to the department. The updated list includes a wide range of finished products and live animals. This proposes a ban on the importation of all canned and ready-to-eat products from fish and meat, as well as other canned products - fresh meat, eggs and honey.
